Romelu Lukaku's agent holds transfer talks with Inter Milan over Man Utd exit

Romelu Lukaku's agent is holding talks with Inter Milan chiefs in a bid to reach a deal that will see the Manchester United striker join the Serie A club.

Lukaku's representative, Federico Pastorello, is understood to be in London for talks with Inter chairman Zhang Kangyang, aimed at putting forward an improved bid to United for the forward.

United rejected Inter's initial bid of £54million for Lukaku, with the Reds valuing the Belgium international at £80m, £5m more than the fee they paid Everton for him in 2017.

Lukaku has been training with his former club Anderlecht while his future remains in limbo, with United ready to fine the 26-year-old for not turning up for training at the AON Training Complex.

While United's players had a day off on Monday, Lukaku was expected back in training on Tuesday, but has still not reported back for duty, as he seeks to force through a move away from Old Trafford.

Pastorello is hoping to convince Inter to meet United's asking price for Lukaku, to allow his client, who is not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future plans, to secure the move to restart his career.

Lukaku could yet join Juventus , with United not having discounted a player-plus-cash deal involving veteran striker Mario Mandzukic, 33, going the other way.

United pulled the plug on a swap deal involving Lukaku and Juve attacker Paulo Dybala, amid concerns over the Argentina international's perceived reluctance to move to Old Trafford.

But a deal between the two clubs, involving Lukaku and Mandzukic, could still happen, with Juve likely to have to pay United in the region of £60m, with the Croatia World Cup star valued at £20m.

In another move regarding Juve, Dybala could indeed seal a switch to the Premier League after Tottenham agreed a few of around £69m for the striker - with talks between the north Londoners and the player ongoing.
