Romelu Lukaku pays Chelsea star Ross Barkley the ultimate compliment after their Everton careers

Former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has named Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley as his favourite teammate from his time at Everton.

Lukaku, now of Italian giants Inter Milan, spent four years at Goodison Park before sealing a move to Manchester United in July 2017 for a fee believed to be in the region of £75million.

But during the four years that the Belgium international spent at Goodison, he had the honour of playing alongside some very talented footballers, such as the likes of Kevin Mirallas, Gerard Deulofeu and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, amongst all of those was midfield architect Barkley, who Lukaku has named as his best teammate during his time with the Toffees.

Alan Smith's Chelsea Q&A on Kepa, Kante and the transfer market

The duo, so often, would link up and strike fear into the veins of opposing defenders, with Barkley, who has scored three times for the Blues this season, often proving to be the architect in chief for Lukaku's goals.

When asked by a supporter on Twitter who was his favourite teammate from his Everton days, Lukaku, hosting an open Q&A session, replied: "@RBarkley8."

Though they only played alongside each other for four seasons, they struck up quite a unique partnership.

Time and time again, you would often see Barkley setting up the chances and Lukaku sticking them in the back of the net.

It was a combination that Everton, and Lukaku, it seems, were lucky to have.
