Romelu Lukaku is on the brink of a sensational return to Chelsea after talks with Inter Milan progressed.
The two parties are understood to have agreed a fee of around £97.5million with only minor details still to be thrashed out.
It is hoped Lukaku’s return will be rubber stamped within the next 72 hours ahead of the Blues’ Super Cup clash with Villarreal.
Personal terms have also been agreed, paving the way for the transfer, with the Belgian making it known that he wanted a Stamford Bridge return.
Lukaku left Chelsea in 2014 after three years at the club.
He joined Everton, where he’d been on loan following another loan spell at West Brom, and then went on to play for Manchester United before joining Inter, with whom he won Serie A last season, in 2019.

In Italy Lukaku has established himself as one of Europe's leading strikers.
Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea to Champions League glory last term, is desperately wanting to add a striker to his ranks.
Last term the Blues lacked a prolific front man with new boy Timo Werner struggling to adapt to English football.
It has forced the west Londoners back into the market with Erling Haaland thought to be a top target at the start of the summer.
However Borussia Dortmund's refusal to sell means Chelsea have had to look elsewhere.
Olivier Giroud has already left for AC Milan whilst Tammy Abraham doesn't appear to be part of Tuchel's plans and is set for pastures new.
Lukaku, who has scored 64 times in his two years in Italy, is a proven performer in the Premier League.
His best single season haul came at United in 2017/18 when he scored 27 times.
Tuchel was quizzed on a possible Lukaku return earlier this week, but did his best to stay quiet.
He said: "I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad.
"Romelu Lukaku is a fantastic player but he’s a player from Inter and with all due respect, I will not talk about him in this situation."
When asked about the player's desire to join the west Londoners the German said: "Everybody wants to come!
"Well, not everybody unfortunately but you can imagine that a lot of players want to come and join. But like I said, we don’t comment on that."
