Romelu Lukaku makes Chelsea pledge after completing 'childhood dream' against Aston Villa

Romelu Lukaku described scoring twice on his return to Stamford Bridge as a "childhood dream" as he inspired Chelsea to victory against Aston Villa.

The Blues were comfortable 3-0 winners against Villa in west London thanks to a brace from Lukaku and one from Mateo Kovacic.

The Belgium international proved his worth to his new club on his second debut at Stamford Bridge, with two fantastically taken goals over the 90 minutes.

Lukaku, when speaking to Sky Sports after the game, explained how delighted he was to score his first-ever goal at the home of Chelsea.

He said: "[I] waited [for his first goal at Stamford Bridge] you know, it’s my dream since I was 11. I worked hard for this moment but you know I’m very happy with the win.

"It was a very important win for us, it was about focus and motivation and we showed the will to win from the first minute; I’m happy to win.

"Playing in Italy, I was playing in a league where I would get one chance a game or two chances a game and I had to take them.

"I think with experience, hard work and teammates understanding me, I’m very happy with the situation I’m in."

Lukaku was then asked about what it felt like to return to Stamford Bridge after years away from the club and described it was a "childhood dream", before analysing the game in a bit more detail.

"Yeah it was good, childhood dream for me, very happy to be in this situation I’m in but the hard work continues," he added.

"They were really good, pressing us from the front, they made life difficult but we stayed focused.

"Edou (Mendy) did really well and the three central defenders and wing-backs did really well and then up front we were just clinical with the chance we had."
