Why Romelu Lukaku was left out of Man United squad for Perth Glory friendly

Romelu Lukaku has been left out of the Manchester United squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly with Perth Glory.

The Belgian striker has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford.

His omission from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad will intensify speculation that he could be on his way out.

However, United claim Lukaku was left out as a precaution after picking up a minor injury.

Lukaku has attracted the interest of Inter Milan but the Serie A outfit have so far failed to table an offer.

United would demand upwards of the £75million they paid to bring Lukaku to the club from Everton two years ago.

Lukaku was among the United group that arrived at the Optus Stadium but he wasn't on the teamsheet.

Victor Lindelof, Lee Grant and Eric Bailly also missed the game, although Solskjaer expects them to be back in contention to face Leeds next week.

He said: "They’re all OK, just small niggles that we just want to protect today. We’ll probably see them on Wednesday, I reckon.”
