Man Utd star Romelu Lukaku dismisses 'penalty bust-up' with Paul Pogba as 'lies'

Romelu Lukaku has on Tuesday appeared to deny reports of a "dramatic bust-up" with Paul Pogba.

The Sun reported on Monday that the Manchester United pair had to be separated following Saturday's 3-2 win over Southampton after a disagreement over Pogba's missed penalty.

Lukaku reportedly wanted to take the injury-time penalty to complete his hat-trick, but designated spot-kick taker Pogba stepped up and saw his effort saved.

The Sun quoted a source claiming a "stern conversation" was had and Lukaku even mentioned how he supported his friend following Pogba's falling out with Jose Mourinho.

Following The Sun's story, Lukaku tweeted: "When the hate don't work they start telling lies..."

Lukaku had addressed the incident immediately after the game, telling reporters: "I am a striker and I wanted Paul Pogba to score the penalty.

"He has been on a good run but he has been an important player for us."
