Romelu Lukaku appears to take a swipe at Man Utd fans in Twitter post

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku may have taken a subtle swipe at supporters over social media ahead of his proposed departure from Old Trafford.

United and Juventus have reportedly agreed a swap-deal that would see Paulo Dybala join the Red Devils, leaving Lukaku to move in the opposite direction.

Despite this breakthrough, Dybala is not convinced about the move and is yet to agree meaning United and Lukaku are being forced to play the waiting game.

Dybala was due to hold talks with manager Maurizio Sarri regarding his future, while Mario Mandzukic has been mentioned as an alternative should Dybala reject United.

Juventus appear to have won the race to sign Lukaku, pipping their Serie A rivals Inter Milan who were keen to land the 26-year-old but refused to meet United's asking price.

Amid the speculation, Lukaku posted a picture of himself on Twitter yesterday wearing the jersey of US basketball team, Los Angeles Lakers , with the caption 'Always reppin'.

The Lakers replied with a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Lukaku would be signing for them and the Belgian powerhouse appeared to respond with a sly dig at United fans.

There has been plenty of transfer activity at United this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to shape a squad capable of achieving a top four finish.

Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined from Swansea City and Crystal Palace respectively, while Harry Maguire 's record breaking move from Leicester is on the verge of completion.

The uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba 's future continues to rumble on and will be fuelled by his failure to report for the club's flight to Cardiff yesterday.

As for Lukaku, his future could depend on the outcome of discussions between Dybala and Sarri and the saga will be one to watch with only six days of the transfer window remaining.
