Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo lead Premier League rankings as Barcelona eye Thomas Tuchel

Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

German giants eye Werner's Bundesliga return

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are monitoring Timo Werner's situation at Chelsea, reports James Robson of the Standard.

According to the Telegraph, the 25-year-old striker will reassess his future in west London if he cannot force himself back into Thomas Tuchel's plans.

Werner, who joined Chelsea last summer under Frank Lampard's tenure from RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £47 million, has scored just four goals across 31 games under Tuchel and netted just once in his last 17 Premier League appearances.

The Germany international has found minutes relatively hard to come by following the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, averaging just 51.9 minutes a game in all competitions this season, causing Werner to reassess his future.

Tuchel listed by Barcelona

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, has listed Tuchel as one of his two favourite managers amid Ronald Koeman's growing troubles at the Nou Camp, according to Spanish football journalist and Barcelona specialist Fernando Polo.

The Chelsea boss is joined by fellow German counterpart and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as Laporta's favourite managers, despite both being tied into deals until 2024.

The Catalan side sits sixth in La Liga on twelve points and without a loss to their name but have struggled - unsurprisingly - to deal with the departure of Lionel Messi.

However, despite the pressure of trailing five points behind league leaders Real Madrid, the pressure has intensified after Koeman led Barca to a 3-0 loss away to Benfica in the Champions League.

Blues plot Kounde return

Chelsea are plotting another proposal to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla in January despite the Spanish side breaking a verbal agreement with the Blues in the dying embers of the recent summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The Blues looked poised to seal the 22-year-old's services after West Ham's signing of Kurt Zouma for around £29 million made way for Kounde's arrival.

However, as per The Athletic, Sevilla suddenly demanded more money for the centre-half than previously agreed after Zouma's move was announced causing Chelsea to pull the plug on talks.

With several Blues defenders, whose deal run out at the end of this season, yet to pen a contract extension, Chelsea seems to remain keen on prising a new defender to west London, according to various reports.

Lukaku joins Ronaldo in star-studded bracket

Romelu Lukaku has joined Cristiano Ronaldo in new Premier League rankings that see the pair joined by Allan Saint-Maximin as the three forwards with the fewest number of pressures per 90 minutes.

The Athletic have sourced stats from all the forwards who have played more than 270 minutes of Premier League football this season to measure who presses the most and who presses the least.

Wilfried Zaha and Neal Maupay top the chart averaging 20 pressure per 90 minutes meanwhile Lukaku comes in at third from bottom with 6.2.

Saint-Maximin is second from bottom with 5.2 and Manchester United's Ronaldo takes the wooden spoon with just 2.7 pressures per 90 minutes.

Lukaku will be looking to judge himself against Ronaldo's goal-scoring charts as oppose to his pressing come the end of the season having failed to outscore the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in Serie A.
