Romelu Lukaku aims thinly veiled dig at former Man United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho

Former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has spoken about working with Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte.

Lukaku joined the Italian outfit in the summer after two seasons at Old Trafford, where he scored 42 goals in 96 appearances for the club. The striker worked under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time at Man United.

The Belgian international found himself in and out of the starting lineup under both managers last season, with young striker Marcus Rashford pushing for his place in the team.

A summer move to Inter followed, where he has joined up with ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, and Lukaku has praised his manager in being able to get the best out of him, while also aiming what could be seen as a dig to some of his previous bosses.

“He (Conte) is a really good coach because he is someone who helps players to develop a lot,” he told Inter’s website.

“I needed and wanted a coach like this, one who motivates me every day. I’m really happy to be here and to be wearing this shirt.”

Conte had a successful first season at Chelsea, winning the Premier League title, however, the Italian was replaced by Maurizio Sarri in the summer of 2018 after a fifth place finish.
