Love was in the air at Stack in Newcastle when a romantic boyfriend proposed to his partner of 10 years.
The couple from Washington held quite the spectacle, with the help of Stack’s giant screen in a surprise gesture for all to see.
Kevin, 40, had planned the surprise with Newcastle Stack a week before and staff at the venue were eager to help, with Natalie Dellar organising it with Kevin.
A video was created for the big screen, and everything was set to go at 8pm on that Sunday evening.
Karly, 30 thought it was just another quiet Sunday night.
The video played alongside ‘If I Had A Gun’ by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Karly said she turned to Kevin for an explanation and found him down on one knee.
Karly said yes, and the whole of Stack erupted in cheer and applause.
Kevin said: “I always told my nan whenever she asked about us getting married, because she did ask a lot over the years, watch this space, watch this space. So then in the video that had to be said, ``So here's that space.”
Gemma Dishman, marketing and special holdings manager for Stack, said: “We jumped at the chance to get involved, because it’s always really exciting. Everyone was just applauding and cheering this special event that had happened.”
The big screen at Stack Newcastle, Pilgrim Street is available to hire from £50, while the venue itself is open for bookings and walk-ins throughout the week. It stands as a favourite among customers, and certainly for Karly and Kevin.
