Roman Kemp’s worrying premonition and sacrifices he made to keep relationship alive

Roman Kemp and Anne-Sophie Flury were excited about starting their own family just months ago.

The Capital FM DJ and Swiss neuroscientist and entrepreneur were excited about their future together - but their relationship was sadly doomed to fail.

The former couple got together in a very modern way after a very strange yet happy coincidence.

Having like a photo of a pair of shoes Anne-Sophie posted on Instagram, Roman then was pleasantly surprised to match with her on dating app TInder.

"She is 25 and beautiful. To be honest I don’t know how I landed her," confessed Roman to the Mirror last December.

"We met when she posted a pair of shoes on  Instagram  . I liked them and then a week later I was on Tinder and it was the same girl."

"And I was like: I’ve got to message her! So I messaged her on Instagram and within a week we met. It was fate.

"I think we live in a world now where everyone meets digitally I think."

During the early days, Roman made great sacrifices to keep their long-distance relationship alive.

With Anne-Sophie living in Hong Kong for six months for work, Roman flew a 12,000 mile round trip every few weeks to keep the relationship on track.

In total, Roman clocked up over 100,000 air miles to spend time with his then missus.

"I am hanging onto her. She moved to Hong Kong last year for a job for six months. So I went back and forth from Hong Kong," admitted Roman.

"I got the Airmails up. It was okay doing long distance. I got time off so I could visit her."

Roman found new levels of fame in the I'm A Celebrity jungle and had thousands of viewers lusting after him, including Love Island star Amber Gill who has sent flirty messages on twitter.

But he only had eyes for one woman - although admitted that with "brains and beauty" he found Anne-Sophie "intimidating".

When asked if she was 'The One', Roman admitted he was not completely confident.

He explained: "We’ve been dating two years. Is she The One? Who knows. You never know! But it’s love, 100 % and I am committed to it."

Roman also paid a lot of attention to what his famous parents Martin Kemp and Shirlie Holliman thought about his then partner.

Luckily for Anne-Sophie, they were also big fans and thought he has made the right decision working hard at their relationship.

"My parents’ marriage has made me know when a relationship is worth working on," added Roman.

"They love Anne-Sophie. Yeah, yeah. It’s very important for me for my family to like my partner.

"My Dad is happy with anyone but my Mum is hard to please and she loves Anne-Sophie as well."

After coming out of the Australian jungle, Roman expressed a desire to settle down and start a family with Anne-Sophie.

Last December, he told HELLO! magazine: "We’re both very family-orientated so marriage and kids is a natural progression for us.”

He added: "But before any of that, we want to focus on having fun, exploring the world and making memories.

"Every time I see a child, I get broody. Soph is so good with kids and you notice those things when you’re in a relationship."

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the couple were forced together in self-isolation and seemed to be in a very happy place.

They passed the time by playing dress-up together and creating TikTok videos together that they shared online.

"You know what though, I'm really learning a lot about my Soph. Probably more so than I have in the past two years," confessed Roman.

However cracks appeared between the couple early in to lockdown as they endured  an argument over crisps.

Despite the fact that Roman loved nothing more than spending time with the brunette beauty, he shared a rather hilarious self-isolation annoyance on his breakfast show.

After securing the last multipack of Walkers salt and vinegar crisps from the shop, he was left in horror to come back from work and find them missing.

Roman fumed on-air at the end of March when Anne-Sophie munched through his stockpile of crisps, raging: "I was fuming. I was like that's not fair. You're going to have to replace them babe."

"Soph promised she would replace them, and told me not to worry. But to my utter horror, I came home again the next day to find a share pack of bloody Snack O' Jacks looking at me from the cupboard".

"I told her that wasn't a fair replacement and she said 'okay fine, I'll get you the proper ones".

Their relationship seemed to still be in a very good place in April this year as Roman and Anne-Sophie celebrated their 'little family'.

The former couple were celebrating spending a year with their precious dog Luna by sharing some of their favourite memories of the miniature chihuahua.

In his caption, Roman insisted that he couldn't believe that it's been a year since the addition was made to his and Anne-Sophie's little family.

He penned: "Can’t believe this little girl is one years old already!

"From being able to be carried like this as a puppy, to nailing the camera angles and slow motion runs".

But lockdown led to the end of another once happy couple as Roman Anne-Sophie called time on their relationship.

Just months after moving in together, the pair decided to call it a day after almost three years of being together.

Anne-Sophie is believed to have taken full custody of their pet pooch following the break-up.

"Roman loved Soph and things had been going really well for them," a source told The Sun.

"But being in lockdown is tough for any couple and they just weren’t able to make things work, which has been upsetting and tough for them both."

Roman is seemingly wasting no time in moving on with his newfound single status.

With lockdown easing, he has reportedly signed up to exclusive dating app Raya, which is awash with celebrities looking for love.

The source continued: :His pals have encouraged him to move on and have got him on Raya, which is packed with attractive and creative women.

"He’s set up a profile with his best photos and has set the music on his page to the song Gold, by his dad’s band. He’s having fun with it."
