Roman Abramovich tipped to fund Erling Haaland transfer as midfielder makes Chelsea return plan

Here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Abramovich to fund Haaland transfer

Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that Chelsea will make Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland their main target to replace Olivier Giroud.

"We know how good he has been since he moved there and he has a release clause of 75 million euros, but that release clause is in the summer of 2022," he said.

"Because of the pandemic, most clubs will not have money to spend in the summer, but of course we saw last summer that as far as Chelsea are concerned, they view that as an opportunity.

"Roman Abramovich is one of the richest men in the world, so Chelsea have the money to do the deal in the summer if they can convince Dortmund to sell and convince Haaland to come to Stamford Bridge."

Tuchel not scared of challenge ahead at Chelsea

Haaland has also been linked with La Liga giants Real Madrid.

But does Roman Abramovich's chequebook give Chelsea the advantage?

Gilmour request

Billy Gilmour has made a request to Chelsea's hierarchy to be allowed to leave on loan for the remainder of the season.

That is according to a report by the Daily Mail, who insist that Gilmour has asked to leave the club on a temporary basis to get more first-team minutes under his belt.

This is in an attempt to bolster his chances of getting into Scotland's squad for this summer's European Championships as he will need to be playing regularly between now and the end of the season.

The youngster's wish to leave on loan is poised to alert a number of clubs, both in the Premier League and those chasing promotion in the Championship.

Gilmour remains highly-rated by those at Stamford Bridge but a lack of game-time could severely dent his hopes of making it into Steve Clarke's Scotland squad come the summer.

Oscar return?

Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has said that he would love to finish his career in west London.

The Brazilian left the Blues in the January transfer window four years ago to take up a new challenge with Shanghai SIPG, but still has fond memories of his time in England.

So much so that the 29-year-old admits he would like to return to Chelsea should he decide to leave China at some point in the future.

"Where next? “I don’t think about leaving China," he told Yellow and Green Football. "There is a great project for me here.

"But, to end my career, I would like to return to Chelsea. I built a beautiful story there and went to the Premier League very young, at a time when fans did not trust Brazilian players that much. I helped change that.

"I’ll be a bit older when I try this move again but, as I am playing very well, with good stats, I feel there is still a place for me at Chelsea."
