Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Tuesday, January 5.
Blues' Lampard decision
Frank Lampard is set to be given more time to prove himself as Chelsea manager following the side's recent poor form, according to The Guardian.
Lampard 's team have won just one out of their last six games in the Premier League, and questions have been asked over the manager's job at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel - who was recently sacked by Paris Saint-Germain - has been linked with the Blues, but this fresh report states otherwise.
It has now been claimed that Lampard will be given more time to prove himself as Chelsea boss, despite the board being 'increasingly concerned' about the team's lack of progress.
But for now, at least, the 42-year-old still has the board's backing, with his contract set to expire in just over two years' time.
Silva's Chelsea confusion
Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has admitted he does not know why the side are on such a poor run of form recently.
Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City means that the Blues have now lost four out of their last six Premier League outings.
Silva, when talking to RMC Sport, cannot quite put his finger on what's going wrong at Stamford Bridge at the moment.
The Brazilian centre-back said: “No, I don’t understand what’s wrong. If I understand before, I think I could have given some advice, but that’s how it is, it’s football, it’s the Premier League, one of the toughest championships around the world.
“You have to be careful, work harder, be stronger as a team, but I think the team is good, the second half was much better than the first in my opinion. We tried to play a little more, we managed to play. I think we were superior in possession of the ball in the second half, sometimes it does not work as we want, as we have prepared, but hey, that’s how it is football. We must prepare for the next match when it arrives.”

Pulisic pinpoints problems in 3-1 defeat
Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has pinpointed what went wrong in his side's recent 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.
The Blues suffered the worst possible start to 2021 with City showing their quality in the first-half at Stamford Bridge - effectively taking the game away from the hosts in the opening 45 minutes.
Now, talking to Chelsea's official website, Pulisic has described what exactly went wrong as Lampard's side fell to their fourth defeat in their last six league matches.
"We conceded goals with a lot of counter situations and we weren’t prepared to stop that so the first half really let us down," he said. "They were able to beat us on some transitions where we needed to defend better and be a little smarter and then we allowed them to dictate the tempo of the game."
