Romain Saiss claims referee "lost control" vs Liverpool and denied Wolves "clear penalty"

Wolves defender Romain Saiss tore into referee Craig Pawson after Monday's defeat against Liverpool, claiming the official lost control of the game.

Saiss believes Wolves should have been awarded a penalty during the first half of the game when Nelson Seemed was taken down by Alisson Becker.

The Wolves right-back had attempted to poke the ball home after the Liverpool goalkeeper dropped a cross from Adama Traore.

But Alisson appeared to barge him straight to the floor, only for Pawson to tell him to get straight up again.

And speaking afterwards, Saiss didn't mince his words when discussing the officiating of the game.

"It was clearly a penalty," he said of the incident.

"I think the referee lost a bit the control of the game in the second half but we have to do more to score goals."

Saiss also discussed the injury suffered by Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who was stretchered off in worrying scenes after colliding with Conor Coady.

The centre-back's knee slammed into Patricio's head, knocking him unconscious, after Mohamed Salah ran through on goal.

Despite some distressing scenes on the pitch, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed the goalkeeper was conscious and doing well.

And Saiss admitted it was tough for him and his team-mates to continue with the game afterwards.

He added: "Yes [it was hard] because of what happened to Raul [Jimenez, suffered a head injury earlier this season] but fortunately Rui [Patricio] was awake on the pitch and in the dressing room.

"We are really confident because he looks not worse than Raul, but of course it's not good to have this kind of injury in your team again. I saw him after with the doctor and he is awake which is most important to us.

"We kept pushing after the injury of Rui, we tried to push to score the goal to make the draw but unfortunately we didn't achieve it. I think we did pretty well today."
