Ronnie Wood to play rare solo show in London this summer

Ronnie Wood, the iconic guitarist for The Rolling Stones, is poised to play a rare solo show in London this August, marking his first full live solo sets in over 16 years.

The intimate performance at the O2 Kentish Town Forum on 21 August will see the 78-year-old musician joined by close friend and singer-songwriter Imelda May.

The announcement follows high demand for Wood’s solo appearances, which initially saw him add an extra date in Amsterdam. He has now confirmed two new shows: the London gig and a performance at Cologne’s E-Werk on 3 September.

Expressing his excitement, Wood declared: "I’m looking forward to kickin’ ass with my back catalogue and some new songs – look out London!!"

Before his storied tenure with The Rolling Stones, Wood was a pivotal member of Faces, the rock band responsible for hits like “Stay With Me”, alongside Rod Stewart. The pair recently reunited on stage last year when Wood joined Sir Rod during his Glastonbury set.

Beyond these, Wood is also celebrated for his work on Faces’ “Ooh La La” and The Rolling Stones’ “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

His enduring legacy has been recognised with two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – first with The Rolling Stones in 1989, and again with Faces in 2012.

Meanwhile, it is understood that The Rolling Stones are back in the studio working on a new record, following the successful release of their last record, 2023’s Hackney Diamonds.

produced by Grammy-winner Andrew Watt, whose other credits include works by Elton John, Pearl Jam, Ozzy Osbourne and Lady Gaga.

Hackney Diamonds shot to No 1 upon its release and received positive reviews from critics.

The Sun reports that the new album is being recorded by original members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, with current drummer Steve Jordan.
