Rolling Stones announce new album with guests Paul McCartney and The Cure’s Robert Smith

The Rolling Stones have confirmed that they will release a new album titled Foreign Tongues this summer.

The record sees them reunite with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who also worked on the legendary rock’n’roll band’s acclaimed 2023 record Hackney Diamonds.

Foreign Tongues will be released on July 10 and is preceded by a new single, “In The Stars,” which is out now.

The band’s core lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were joined at Metropolis Studios in West London by their regular collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan.

The album will also feature their late drummer, Charlie Watts, from a recording session before he died in 2021. There will also be guest appearances from Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In a statement, Mick Jagger said: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Keith Richards added: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it. I'm blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

Ronnie Wood said: “The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”

The album’s release had been hinted at in recent weeks by an international billboard campaign.

Wood revealed that new music was on the way in September last year, telling the press that fans would be “getting a new album” in 2026. That was followed by an enigmatic campaign by the band’s alter egos, The Cockroaches, that included the release of the single “Rough and Twisted”.

The official Rolling Stones Instagram account then shared a series of images showing billboards around the world in locations including Sydney, Australia and Paris, France.

The billboards featured the Rolling Stones logo and the same phrase repeated in various languages, teasing the title Foreign Tongues.
