The Rolling Stones are revving up their lucrative rock 'n' roll machine once again: The iconic band has locked in a round of summer stadium shows.
The Stones unveiled the 2020 leg of their No Filter Tour, a 15-city run that will kick off May 8 in San Diego and traverse the continent before wrapping up July 9 in Atlanta.
Rolling Stones tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 (local time in each market). A presale for American Express card holders will run 10 a.m. Feb. 12 through 10 p.m. Feb. 13.
Six decades on, a Rolling Stones show remains one of the time-tested customs in rock. The band's 17-show outing last summer grossed more than $178 million to top the year's North American box-office chart.
Song lists from the 2019 dates indicate a hits-heavy set not dramatically different from the band's previous stateside tour in 2015, which included a visit to Detroit's Comerica Park.
This will be the Stones' third appearance at Ford Field: The band inaugurated the Lions' home with an October 2002 concert, returning in 2006 to play the halftime show at Super Bowl XL.
And the June 10 Detroit show comes 56 years to the week after the Rolling Stones' first Motor City visit _ an Olympia Stadium concert that was part of the band's first U.S. tour, in the heart of 1964's British Invasion.
Could this be the last time? At 72, guitarist Ronnie Wood is the youngest core member of an outfit led by still-wiggly front man Mick Jagger (76), grizzled lead guitarist Keith Richards (76) and low-key drummer Charlie Watts (78). Still, history has taught us to be careful about counting out a band that's been shrugging off "Rolling Bones" jokes for three decades now.
Thursday's announcement follows three days of promotional teases in several of the Stones' upcoming tour markets.
