Rollercoaster veers off tracks at theme park in horrifying crash with 10 injured

Ten thrill-seekers have been injured after a rollercoaster veered off its tracks at a theme park in Brazil.

Shocking footage shows the moment the cars came off their track on the ride at the amusement park in Maranguape, Ceara state, in the north-east of the country on Tuesday night (September 6).

A video was filmed by an onlooker while a second was filmed by one of those on the ride at the time of the accident.

A third piece of footage shows the aftermath of the crash, with the track broken and the cars on the ground.

A female teacher who chose to remain anonymous was on the ride at the time and was thrown to the ground by the impact.

She told local media: "We went up and heard the rollercoaster creaking.

"The second time we went down fast and when it was the third time it broke. A car overturned with two girls in it and I was thrown out...

"The pressure was great, it was terrible, even now my mental health is shaken, as something worse could have happened."

The boy who filmed the second piece of footage told local media: "It was on the ride's third lap. The rollercoaster track broke, throwing three girls out.

"There were 10 of us in total, the other seven were left with minor injuries, mainly to the legs, where the iron safety bar was...

"I was helpless at the time, I just wanted to know if my family was all right."

This is the second terrifiying crash seen in recent weeks with a dozens left injured after a ride crashed to the ground at the Dussehra fairground in Mohali, India on Sunday Sept 4.

Fifty people were reportedly left injured after the spinning fairground ride malfunctioned and plunged 80ft.

People can be heard screaming in the chilling clip, seconds before the ride crashed to the ground.

Several children are believed to be among those hurt as paramedics rushed the wounded to local hospitals following the horrific incident.

A video shared on social shows the ride lifting thrillseekers high into the air up an 80ft tower on a rotating platform, before a mechanical failure sends the screaming riders plummeting to the ground.

In August a woman died after falling from a ride in Germany.

The 57-year-old fell off the ride to her death from a height of 26ft at the Klotti Wildlife and Leisure park in Klotten, Germany at around 4:30pm on August 13.
