The east London grime music collective Roll Deep took the best album award for In at the Deep End at the third annual Urban Music Awards yesterday, while Jamelia was named best R&B act.

The Canadian-born musician Raghav, who has been acclaimed for his brand of Indian-fused western pop, took the prize for breakthrough act.

Former M People vocalist Heather Small picked up the lifetime achievement, capping a year in which her single, Proud, became the official anthem for London's successful 2012 Olympic bid. The awards were decided by the public, with 1.75m votes cast.
