Rolex watches, jaw dropping jewellery... all the designer items you can buy in John Pye's new shop

Got an eye for designer goods? Online auction house, John Pye, has launched a new online store but you're going to need a fat wallet to shop there.

Names such as Rolex, Omega and Tag Heuer grace the watch section of the 'store' while exclusive jewellery such as the David Jerome Collection will dazzle you in the jewellery line-up. There are some extraordinary diamonds and ethically sourced gemstones - and some eyewatering price tags too.

The John Pye Luxury Shop signals a diversification for the auctioneer, which has held luxury auctions since 1968.

Adam Pye, managing director at John Pye Auctions, said of the new business model that it was "another string to our bow". He said: "We already have a number of divisions - including property, luxury, trade and more - so we’re delighted to add the Luxury Shop to our growing roster of companies.

“We’ve held luxury auctions for many years, but we wanted to offer our customers a direct buying experience to make shopping even easier. Our aim is to reach a wider target market, as well as provide our existing customers with an even larger range of luxury assets and jewellery at the click of a button.”

The site is packed with 'one-of-a-kind' items from high-end designers, and bidders can also now experience both auction prices and ‘buy it now’ prices, with goods expected to be delivered much quicker and are organised as soon as payments have been made.

Personal viewings are available.

The highest priced item on the site at the moment is a Patek Philippe Aquanaut watch with a price tag of £75,000, closely followed by a Rolex Daytona at £69,500.

The Luxury Shop is the latest launch for the firm, it has recently expanded into Northern Ireland with a new site and team, as well as reopened its former site in Derby. The online auctioneers also launched a trade platform last year, selling pallets of stock from high street giant John Lewis as well as the liquified Bright House as the pandemic forced many businesses to close.

Paul Hird, who heads up the Luxury Shop, said: “Opening an online space for luxury assets is a very exciting opportunity for John Pye. Many shoppers are continuing to make purchases from the comfort of their own home, so they can now directly shop for unique and bespoke items all in one place.

“Whether your priority is the speed and ease of shopping or snagging a deal at auction, with both our direct shopping and auction offerings, we’re able to offer something for everyone and we look forward to welcoming new customers to our existing database, with the potential to sell luxury items through the shop.

“We’re also delighted to be launching with the David Jerome Collection, which consists of ethically-sourced precious gemstones from around the world, and we will be continually introducing new stock from established and sought-after brands.”

The new shop is solely online, with assets stored at the jewellers’ premises until sold.

The firm's proceeds of crime auctions will still be running as usual on its website.
