Rolex, Chanel handbag, Cartier jewellery and a Harley Davidson seized from criminals sold at auction

Rolex and Cartier watches, designer handbags and even a Harley Davidson were among items sold at auction this month after being seized from criminals.

The items were seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and were sold with no reserve at Wilsons online auction on March 4.

The auction is open to anyone and many of the winning bids saw people pick up staggering bargains.

Watches by Rolex, Cartier, Breitling and Ulysse Nardin as well as 9ct, 14ct, 18ct and 22ct gold jewellery were all up for grabs having been seized by law enforcement agencies.

There were also more than 40 handbags and accessories by some of the world's biggest designer brands including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Fendi.

For bike enthusiasts, there was also a Harley Davidson motorcycle as well as a Rockhopper Electric Bike.

Motorists looking for a unique addition for their cars had the chance to place offers on the '1SBO' private licence plate.

The timed online auction took place on Thursday, March 4 from 1pm and timed out at 1pm on Friday, March 5.

This gave potential buyers a 24-hour window of opportunity to bid online.

Michael Streight, Wilsons Auctions’ government sales coordinator, said: "With all of the items going under the virtual hammer, the online luxury goods auctions continues to be as popular as ever and is a great opportunity for customers to purchase high-end, highly sought-after luxury goods, at an affordable price, from the convenience of their desktop or mobile device.

“We are proud to facilitate auctions on behalf of our government and law enforcement agency clients, which have seen significant growth across the group.

"We play an important role in realising a large quantity of assets on behalf of these clients and in recent years, these auctions have seen us responsible in returning £120 million back into the public purse."
