Rolando Aarons faces nervous wait to see if he makes into Newcastle United's 25-man squad

Rolando Aarons was today facing potential heartbreak on deadline day.

The winger could narrowly miss out on a place in Steve Bruce’s final 25-man squad and be loaned out to the Championship.

The former Bristol City youngster has been looked at extensively by Bruce in pre-season and has commented on the increase in fitness work under the new gaffer.

Aarons has played the last two pre-season games at wing-back.

Despite the possibility of him leaving on loan, Aarons is convinced Bruce will bring some togetherness back to Newcastle United .

Aarons feels that Bruce has made a lot of progress in a short space of time and told The Chronicle: “When a new manager comes in everything lifts up a bit.

“The difference between the West Ham and Wolves game in China for instance, you seen a huge shift upwards.

“I think the manager has picked us up. He has worked us hard in the last two weeks and everybody is doing fantastic work now."
