Rohit Sharma to attend BCCI's meeting for selection of Asia Cup squad on...

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) senior selection committee for men, which is headed by former India pacer Ajit Agarkar, will meet in New Delhi on Monday, according to an ANI report. The primary agenda of the meeting will be to deliberate upon the composition of the Asia Cup squad. India skipper Rohit Sharma will also be in attendance, the report added.

As of now, the BCCI has not disclosed its squads for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup. Apprehensions regarding injuries to key players have influenced this decision. Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, who are pivotal figures for the Indian team, have been sidelined by injuries. However, Bumrah marked his return during the ongoing three-match T20I series in Ireland, where he is also leading the team.

Meanwhile, other Asian nations such as Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh have already unveiled their squads for the Asia Cup. In the context of World Cup, England and Australia have announced their preliminary player lists.

On July 19, BCCI secretary and president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah, unveiled the schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

The competition will adopt a hybrid format, with Pakistan hosting four matches and Sri Lanka hosting all of India's matches, with a total of nine fixtures. In terms of groupings, India are in Group A alongside Pakistan and Nepal, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 30, featuring the much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
