Rohit Sharma surpasses Azharuddin, becomes sixth-highest run getter for India in ODIs

NEW DELHI: Skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday achieved yet another feat in his illustrious career as he became sixth-highest run-getter for India in ODIs.

Rohit also progressed in his quest of reaching the magical 10,000-run mark as he now needed only 597 runs to attain the feat.

In the process, Rohit also surpassed former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin to accomplish the record during India's first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

His overall stats now stand at 9,403 runs in 234 matches (227 innings) at an average of 48.46. He has scored 29 centuries and 45 fifties in his ODI career so far, with the best knock of 264, which is also the highest score ever in ODIs.

Azharuddin, who moved down to 7th spot, had scored 9,378 runs in 334 matches in 308 innings at an average of 36.92, with seven tons and 58 fifties and the best score of 153*.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) is sitting right at the top on the list followed by Virat Kohli (12,353), Saurav Ganguly (11,221), Rahul Dravid (10,768) and MS Dhoni (10,599).
