Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden ease into Adelaide International final

NEW DELHI: In a continued display of their impressive form in Adelaide, Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopanna secured a spot in the Adelaide International final by defeating Gonzalo Escobar and Aleksandr Nedovyesov with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals on Friday.

Their opponents in the championship match will be the formidable duo of three-time reigning US Open champions, Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. Ram and Salisbury advanced to the final by defeating Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski with a score of 7-6(4), 5-5, 10-6 in the semifinals.

The American-British pair is aiming for their third title in four outings, following late-season victories in Vienna and the ATP Finals at the end of 2023.

Bopanna and Ebden's journey in 2024 began with a thrilling encounter, as they reached the ATP 250 hard-court semifinals by overcoming Nicolas Barrientos and Rafael Matos 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-7.

Despite not facing any break points, the second-seeded duo had to maintain composure for a match tie-break triumph after earning a quarterfinal spot through a bye and a walkover.

In Auckland, top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos secured their place in the final by defeating Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow 6-3, 6-4.

They will face Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic, who emerged victorious over Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul with a score of 5-7, 7-6(5), 10-7, in the championship match.
