Nine days ago, media news website Mediaite published an allegation claiming that Roger Stone, a prominent Republican operative and ally of the former president, had allegedly made remarks suggesting that two Democrats should be assassinated. The conversation was said to have taken place between Stone and an associate named Sal Giorgis at a restaurant in Florida. Stone immediately denied the story, stating that Mediaite was unable to produce any recording to support their claims. However, two days later, Mediaite released the recording, although its authenticity has not been confirmed.
Following the release of the tape, Stone labeled it as 'AI generated BS,' implying that the recording had been manipulated. The Capitol Police are reportedly now investigating the alleged comments. It is worth noting that last year, video evidence was released by the January 6th committee, showing Stone on January 6th uttering inflammatory remarks about violence and downplaying the significance of voting. Stone dismissed this footage as 'deepfake videos' at the time.
Upon being informed of the recording, an individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, expressed their shock and dismay at Stone's alleged brazenness. They emphasized that the preference for violence over voting displayed by Stone and his close association with former President Trump were alarming. The individual called for unity amongst their colleagues to denounce such threats, regardless of political affiliation.
Addressing the seriousness of the alleged threat, the individual affirmed that they take it seriously, particularly concerning their family and staff. They referred to past incidents, such as an attack on Speaker Pelosi's husband, highlighting the potential vulnerability of those associated with high-profile individuals.
