Rodrygo has been told he can leave Real Madrid this summer and is reportedly interested in a move to Arsenal.
The forward has been linked wtih a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, which prompted Arsenald defender Gabriel to urge this team to press ahead with a move for a player he branded a “phenomenon”.
"I’d like [it] obviously,” Gabriel told Brazilian podcast PodPah. "He’s a phenomenon. I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course [I want him at Arsenal]!"
New Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso was expected to hold talks with Rodrygo following his appointment, and two weeks ago said of the player: "He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so. We’ll get to know each other. He’s a spectacular player and we need him."
However, reports out of Spain on Tuesday suggest Rodrygo's time could be up.
Marca and Cadena SER report that Madrid have set an asking price of €90million (£76.8m) for Rodrygo, and Arsenal are one of the leading candidates to snap up the winger.
Rodrygo still has three years to run on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, so Madrid's negotiating hand is strong.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal's interest if legitimate but Standard Sport understands the club are in the market for a wide forward.
Key transfer target Nico Williams has reportedly snubbed a move to north London in favour of Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
