Rodrigo Riquelme in Celtic and Rangers transfer interest as rivals 'knock Atletico Madrid's door'

Rangers and Celtic have expressed interest in Atletico Madrid prodigy Rodrigo Riquelme - according to a report.

The 19-year-old winger's contract expires in June and he's yet to agree fresh terms with the La Liga giants.

Marca report proposals from Glasgow's fierce rivals are among the vast array of options put forward to Riquelme as he ponders his future.

German side Hoffenheim are also named as potential suitors as well as clubs in the Premier League and Netherlands.

It's believed he harbours concerns over a path to the first team but is willing to listen to Atletico's plan for his development.

He could, however, become a free agent this summer, negating a €30million release clause.

Rangers have already been alerted to the Spaniard's talent this season as he starred in Atletico's 4-0 UEFA Youth League rout over the Ibrox U-19 side in February.

Riquelme produced a sparkling performance at Firhill but his sights appear firmly set on first team football.

Boss Diego Simeone handed the teenager his senior debut back in September last year - a late cameo in a win over Eibar.

But he's yet to feature again for the senior side and it's reported he feels a path into the side isn't currently open.
