Rodrigo Moreno has insisted Leeds United will not fall into the trap of 'second-season syndrome' after a stellar debut Premier League campaign but has warned the club will find it tougher next year.
The Whites ended the season as the division's form side, losing only once in their last 11 matches to end the season in ninth.
Leeds' point tally of 59 can only be bested by Ipswich Town in 2001 for a newly-promoted side, highlighting the achievement from Marcelo Bielsa's side.
However, previous examples such as the Tractor boys, and more recently Sheffield United, have shown that clubs can often suffer a dip in form after an impressive first year.
Ipswich were relegated the following season and haven't been seen since, whilst the Blades have suffered the same fate after finishing ninth last year.
However, Rodrigo has insisted Leeds will not fall by the wayside, though admitting they will face tougher challenges in 2021/22.
“We’ve had an amazing season and, of course, we were back playing in front of fans on Sunday,” Rodrigo told LUTV.
“There is a great atmosphere in the dressing room, we have a fantastic club.
“We are looking forward to the summer now, resting a little bit and then onto the next season.
“We hope when we return all of the fans will be back in the stadium. I’m sure next season will be harder than this, but we have a great group and I believe we can do another great season next year.”
“It’s been an amazing season for me and the club, I think I’ve finished the season well,” he added, reflecting on his own season.
“Of course, I had some injuries, which didn’t allow me to play more games, but I’m very happy with how everything finished.”
