Rodrigo De Paul issues honest verdict on his future amid Arsenal and Liverpool transfer links

Rodrigo De Paul has been discussing his future with Udinese following transfer links to Arsenal, Leeds United and Liverpool.

We brought you the news recently that De Paul is being linked with a move to the Gunners via reports from Italy, with the Whites and the Reds also supposedly keen on the 27-year-old.

With Granit Xhaka edging closer to a move to AS Roma, football.london reported recently, and Dani Ceballos returning to Madrid, the north London club are looking to dive into the summer transfer market to bolster the numbers in the central midfield area.

Ruben Neves has been heavily linked in recent days, but De Paul is another man reportedly being looked at.

Now, the Argentina midfielder has opened up on his future with Udinese - where he has just over three years remaining on his existing deal.

“I was very sincere, very clear with whom I had to be clear,” De Paul told the Guardian.

“I said what I thought, what I want. I’m 27 now. I’m not going to speak anywhere else because I respect everyone at Udinese, especially the fans who really love me.”

football.london understands Arsenal are set for a massive squad overhaul this summer following a very disappointing 2020/21 campaign, with at least five new signings expected at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the Gunners may need to sell before they can spend freely - with a host of players being linked with a move away from the capital.

Hector Bellerin wants to leave, football.london understands, Xhaka is set to depart, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has hinted at a permanent exit, Bernd Leno is being linked with a move and Alexandre Lacazette 's contract situation is causing uncertainty over his future in north London.

De Paul would be a marquee signing if Arsenal could land him, with reports suggesting they are keen, with the Argentine midfielder enjoying a fine 2020/21 season in the Serie A for Udinese.

The Liverpool-linked star scored nine goals in 36 league appearances from the centre of midfield, as well as registering 10 assists for his team-mates.

However, with his contract situation at Udinese very strong, from their point of view, the Italian club are seemingly under no pressure to sell their prized asset, unless he does declare his desire to leave the Stadio Friuli.
