Rodrigo De Paul again gets Leeds United fans talking on social media

Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has a habit of knowing how to engage Leeds United fans on social media.

Supporters will remember the transfer saga last summer which saw him post a number of cryptic (and not-so cryptic) messages on Twitter amid reports linking him with Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Whether it was liking posts by Leeds United fanzine The Square Ball or engaging with fans on the platform, De Paul certainly set tongues wagging, although no move materialised.

Leeds turned their attention to other targets, with an aborted move for Michael Cuisance following, but fans have been continued to keep a close eye on De Paul this season.

It's no surprise then, that De Paul's latest tweet has been jumped on in West Yorkshire.

'New Year, New challenges. I'm ready," the Udinese midfielder posted on Saturday morning.

The replies from Leeds supporters quickly flooded in, as you can see below:

Back in the summer, De Paul liked a tweet from The Square Ball which posted that the 26-year-old was  “keen on the move but it now rests with the clubs”, to which the man himself replied 'Yes' with a crossed fingers emoji, before deleting the post.

Angus Kinnear reflected on the summer saga on The Square Ball's podcast last month, as he downplayed the possibility of a deal.

“It’s an odd one, because it’s an odd way to do that. To be fair, we knew at that stage that he had an interest, but all other elements of the deal didn’t work, so we’d kind of written it off.

“So, it wasn’t a surprise, but it’s odd for a player to declare his interest without having some degree of surety that something is going to happen.”

De Paul has been linked with moves to Juventus and Internazionale in recent weeks, although it is believed that the Milan side cannot finance a deal.

The January transfer window opened on Saturday morning for Premier League sides.
