Rodrigo de Paul €50m claim, Erling Haaland 'price' and other Liverpool transfer rumours rated

As the business end of the season draws closer, attention is slowly starting to turn to how Liverpool will begin their rebuild from a disappointing Premier League title defence.

There will be inevitable calls for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market this summer to strengthen his squad as they look to regain their crown next season.

As a result of these calls, a host of names will no doubt emerge as possible players the Reds are set to target this summer.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at some of the latest rumours and assessed whether or not they are likely to happen.

Liverpool 'frontrunners' to land De Paul

Who?

Rodrigo de Paul, the Udinese midfielder.

Where?

Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly leading the race to sign De Paul at the end of the season.

That is according to a report by TuttoUdinese, as transcribed by Sport Witness, who claim both clubs could be willing to secure a deal upwards of €50m in the summer.

What?

Given the current speculation around Georginio Wijnaldum ’s future, it is likely that Liverpool will continue to be linked with a host of midfielders.

However, you can’t help but think that the Reds’ stance on signing a midfielder will only become clear when a decision is made on Wijnaldum’s future.

Dortmund name Haaland 'price'

Who?

Erling Haaland, the Borussia Dortmund forward.

Where?

The German side have reportedly set their asking-price for Haaland ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

According to a report by ESPN, Dortmund values the forward at €180 million ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

What?

The 20-year-old has netted 47 goals in 48 games for Dortmund since joining the German side in January 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg where he struck 29 times in 27 outings.

That impressive form has resulted in the forward being linked with a host of top clubs around Europe, including Liverpoo l, but it appears he won’t be cheap.

And given the huge transfer fee being reported, it is hard to see the Reds entering the market to sign Haaland at that price in the summer.

Fekir return claims 'rejected'

Who?

Nabil Fekir, the one that got away for Liverpool.

Where?

Sport Witness cite Estadio Deportivo as playing down recent rumours of the Reds being back in for the 27-year-old.

Deportivo claims it’s more likely Fekir will stay at Betis for one more season, and only be sold in 2022, when there’ll be only one year left on his contract.

What?

Ahead of the France international's proposed move to Anfield in the summer of 2018 that fell through at the 11th hour, he had netted 23 goals for Lyon the previous season.

However, his recent form for Betis has hardly set the world alight and it is safe to say that Liverpool have also moved on too.

Given the attacking quality Jurgen Klopp already has at his disposal, it is hard to see why the Reds would want to sign Fekir this summer.
