Rodrigo Bentancur back in full training as Ange Postecoglou sets out Tottenham plan for injury return

Ange Postecoglou has revealed Rodrigo Bentancur has resumed full training with Tottenham, as the head coach played down fitness concerns over Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero.

Bentancur has been sidelined since surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in February but has gradually stepped up training with the first-team over the past month, with Postecoglou previously saying he could be back in action in November.

Son and Romero, meanwhile, appeared to suffer knocks on duty for their countries during the break but Postecoglou says all his internationals are available for Monday night's visit of Fulham, while Brennan Johnson will be assessed over the weekend.

"It's been a pretty positive international break for us," Postecoglou said. "In terms of availability, everyone's kind of back and medical reports seem to be good so no real issues around the guys from a fitness perspective.

"Also, we got a couple of senior [international] debuts in Destiny [Udogie] and Micky [van de Ven] getting some runs for their national teams, so it was a good break. Gio Lo Celso played for Argentina as well which was great. Those guys all came through it well."

Johnson has missed the the last two games with a hamstring strain suffered on his debut against Arsenal and Postecoglou continued: "Brennan has had a good solid couple of weeks of training which was good for him with the guys left, alongside Bentancur and Bryan Gil, so they're all good.

"Being a Monday night helps us. All the international players should be available, Brennan we'll see how it goes in the next couple of days."

Bentancur will not be in the squad for the visit of the Cottagers and Postecoglou says the club will be cautious with reintegrating the Uruguayan midfield player after so long on the sidelines.

"We'll be careful with him," said the Australian. "He's now fully training so he's into the whole session. We've drip-fed him into training in the last sort of month and he's coped pretty well with that. Now he's in to full training.

"We've got to be mindful that he's missed a fair bit of football. I think the more he trains with the first-team over the next few weeks, we'll pick out moment but he's looking good at training. We're looking forward to getting him back."

Yves Bissouma will serve a one-match ban after being sent off in the 1-0 win over Luton last time out and Postecoglou says Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a "ready-made replacement" and the "logical" fringe player to replace the Malian.

Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined long-term.
