Leeds United are on the verge of making their first major signing of the summer transfer window.
Marcelo Bielsa and his backroom staff have been working hard to be able to strengthen the squad ahead of the Whites’ first Premier League game of the season next month.
And it now seems that the hard work is paying off, as Leeds United close in on the signing of Valencia striker Rodrigo.
The Spanish side confirmed late on Tuesday night that a fee had been agreed with Leeds.
“Valencia CF have reached a preliminary agreement with Leeds United this Tuesday for the transfer of footballer Rodrigo Moreno, at the expense of completing all the documentation and other formalities and passing the medical examination,” a statement on their official Twitter account read.
“Valencia CF want to thank Rodrigo Moreno for his commitment and effort over the last six seasons - in which he helped to win a Cup title. We wish him all the best in this new stage of his career at Leeds.”
And it seems that the Whites have wasted no time in starting the medical process, with the player filmed arriving at the clinic to undergo his Leeds United medical on Wednesday morning.
His arrival will come as a major boost to Leeds as they look to bolster their attacking line before they open their Premier League campaign against Liverpool.
The 29-year-old played a total of 34 games for Valencia in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists.
After the capture of Rodrigo is complete, Bielsa will look to continue to strengthen the squad, with players such as Ben White and Ryan Kent emerging as top transfer targets.
