Rodri sends strong Manchester City title pledge to Liverpool FC after Burnley victory in Premier League

Manchester City are back on track in the Premier League and can still retain their title, according to midfielder Rodri.

City bounced back from the draw at Newcastle with a comfortable 4-1 win at Burnley on Tuesday. That moves them back up to second, eight points behind Liverpool ahead of Wednesday's fixtures that see the league leaders host Everton and Leicester face Watford.

Rodri returned to the starting XI at Turf Moor and was named Man of the Match in a fine individual performance from midfield. The summer record signing capped off his impressive night with a rasping half-volley that flew into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.

That goal was City's third following a Gabriel Jesus brace, with Riyad Mahrez adding a fourth before Robbie Brady's late consolation.

And Rodri says City are firmly back in the title race when asked by Amazon Prime if his side could still retain their Premier League trophy.

"All of it. Simple as that," Rodri said when asked about City's title chances.

"Until the maths say we can’t win the Premier League we are going to fight for it and you’re going to see the best version of Man City until then."

Rodri also declared that he is in a position to kick on and improve after taking the first few months of his City career adapting to English football.

"I have the first one, two months of adaptation myself and now it's going to be the best version of me," he predicted.

"It's not easy to feel in this position but I'm learning, Pep helps me a lot. Now it's going to be the best version of me, of my performance, and of course the result helps to have that confidence. I'm feeling good."
