Manchester City record signing Rodri has revealed the current player he is most looking forward to playing alongside as he prepares to meet his new teammates this week.
Rodri completed a move to the Etihad in a £63m deal last week, and will battle with Fernandinho for a starting spot in the defensive midfield role under Pep Guardiola.
The Spanish international made a good impression as he spoke to the media and met City supporters after being unveiled, and fans particularly were impressed by his humble approach when playing for Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.
When he was coming through the Atletico academy as a youngster, the 22-year-old says he would see current City striker Sergio Aguero around the club, and is now excited to be playing alongside the forward in the same team.
Rodri has even taken the no.16 shirt at City, the same number Aguero wore when he made the same move from Atletico to the Etihad.
Speaking to City's official website, Rodri explained: "Now I have the chance to meet Aguero. I meet with him in the academy when I was very young in Atletico.
"I used to see him at the [Vicente] Calderon Stadium and now I play with him so I'm very excited and happy to play with him.
"I'm really happy and excited to be here in Manchester It's a great step for me, a dream for me playing with these players with this coach. I'm excited to play at the Etihad stadium and have success with this team."
