Rodri pledges to take Bristol City "to first place" as new forward adds to Robins' firepower

Bristol City have confirmed the news that we brought you earlier this week: Spanish striker Rodrigo Ríos Lozano has joined the Robins.

The deal has been announced as being a short-term contract until January with the option to sign an extension until the end of the season.

‘Rodri’ will not be in contention to play against Luton Town at the weekend but could be involved when Charlton Athletic visit BS3 on the following Wednesday, with Lee Johnson confirming that he wants four strikers at City this season and is determined to play with two forwards whenever possible.

After putting pen to paper the new recruit gave his views on the move to the West Country.

“It’s my job to score goals and I will try my best for this club and this team and I want them to be in first place," he told the club website.

“My first impressions of the manager are that I think he is a good coach and a good person and that’s very important for me. I want to thank him for the opportunity to play in England again.

“I am really happy to be in England again. It’s a new opportunity for me to show my football and I’m excited to start playing.

“I think the English league suits my style of football and I can help the club - together we will enjoy this season,” he said.

And after a quick tour of the roof - as per every Bristol City new signing this season - the former Barcelona B forward explained that he is looking forward to having the opportunity to play in front of the City fans soon.

“The stadium is very nice and it is a very friendly club and I love that. Our fans are massive and I am really excited about playing in front of them,” he added.

Bristol City face Charlton Athletic in their next home match - and former Spanish U21 striker Rodri could make his debut in that game.
