Rodri passes Man City milestone in West Brom draw

Rodri became the first outfield player for Manchester City to pass 1,500 minutes played this season during the draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Pep Guardiola has made a point in recent weeks of saying that his squad have to perform well every game if they are to keep their place in the team, with John Stones and Ruben Dias examples of individuals that have risen to Guardiola's challenge.

Rodri, signed from Atletico last summer for what was then a club record fee of £62.8m, has been more present than any other outfield player this season, helped by the fact that he has only missed one game through illness or injury and there is not as much competition for his key role in holding midfield.

The 24-year-old has started all 12 Premier League games this season as well as both Carabao Cup and four out of six Champions League matches. The second half of the win over Burnley are the only league minutes of football he has not been used for, and in total he has played a total of 1,529 minutes.

The only player in the squad to have featured more than him is goalkeeper Ederson, who has been on the pitch for just one minute longer.

Raheem Sterling has been the next most-used player by Guardiola this season, with the England international five minutes away from passing the 1,500 milestone after featuring for the full match in the 1-1 draw with West Brom.
