Rodri gesture tops off impressive first day at Man City

Rodri topped off an impressive first day at Manchester City with an impromptu teamtalk for a group of youngsters.

The club’s record signing was officially introduced to the public on Thursday after his £62m move from Atletico was confirmed at lunchtime.

At a press conference arranged for media, the midfielder surprised as he took and answered questions on a range of topics in fluent English as well as his native Spanish.

Rodri was then a hit with fans at the club store as he took the time for selfies and signings.

And he also made a striking impression as he went above and beyond during the course of the day. The midfielder encountered a group of Under-9s and Under-13s that were training at the Etihad Campus as he was being given a tour of the facilities.

Before moving on, Rodri gave the youngsters an impromptu talk telling them the importance of enjoying the game over anything else they may learn as he stopped to chat with them for some time. Club officials were left impressed with the gesture that made a big impression on the kids.

Omar Berrada, the club's COO, explained to M.E.N Sport this summer how director of football Txiki Begiristain will look into the character of a transfer target before deciding if they will make a good addition to the squad; Begiristain described Rodri as a "perfect fit" for the club on his signing.
