Rodney Harrison says Jacoby Brissett is ‘best quarterback in the AFC right now’

Former New England Patriots safety and current NFL analyst Rodney Harrison seems to really like how Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett is developing. During an appearance on NBC, Harrison said he believes Brissett is “the best quarterback in the AFC right now.”

Of course, the AFC also features quarterbacks Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Phillip Rivers and Deshaun Watson. But Brissett was coming off a win over the Houston Texans when he completed 66.7% of his passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns. That outing seems to be what led Harrison to make his bold statement about the Colts quarterback.

On the season, Brissett is 23rd in passing yards per game (231), fourth in passing touchdowns (14) and 17th in completion % (65).

Perhaps Harrison is excluding Mahomes, because he suffered a knee injury which will sideline him for a few weeks. Brissett beat Watson in Week 7 (even if that’s a simplistic way to think about a duel between players not actually on the field at the same time). And Phillip Rivers is leading a flailing Chargers team. Brady and the Patriots have yet to play this week, with a matchup against the New York Jets on Monday night.

Perhaps the Patriots quarterback can change Harrison’s mind.
