Rodney Anderson details expected injury return timetable

Cincinnati Bengal’s sixth-round running back Rodney Anderson is still working his way back from an injury he suffered in September.

The torn ACL helped him drop to the sixth round, where the Bengals happily scooped him up and — alongside Trayveon Williams — helped them think they got a major steal.

According to Fletcher Page of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Anderson told reporters at rookie minicamp he would like to be ready for full-go near the end of July to start training camp.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor also spoke on the matter:

He’s a guy that we thought highly of, with the stuff that he could put on tape when he did play in college. He’s in the rehab phase, and we knew that when we drafted him that he wouldn’t be practicing this offseason. He’s in there with Coach Singleton (Bengals running backs coach Jemal Singleton) getting the mental part of it down. I have no worries that he will be able to do that and continue with the rehab, and so when training camp rolls around we’ll see where he is at that point.

Anderson was seemingly headed for a much, much higher draft slot after 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2017.

In Cincinnati, he’ll get to take his time on the comeback trail while sitting behind Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, if not Williams as well.

While the Bengals bring along their potential steal understandably at a plodding pace, Bengals fans can at least enjoy some highlights from his electric college career.
