Rod Taylor out, free agent John Jerry in for Bengals offensive line

In a move aimed at shoring up the offensive line for the summer, the Cincinnati Bengals waived Rod Taylor and added free-agent guard John Jerry on Monday.

The Bengals announced the moves, which seem to stem mostly from the hobbled state of the offensive line right now heading into a three-day stretch of mandatory minicamp.

Jerry played four years in Miami upon arrival in 2010 before starting four years for the New York Giants, last playing a down in 2017. As for Taylor, he seemed to have upside out of the seventh round a year ago before suffering a season-ending injury.

For now, the Bengals appear to simply be making moves in order to have camp bodies. But it’s hard not to notice the overhaul at the guard position, with Cordy Glenn moving there and the arrivals of John Miller, Michael Jordan and now Jerry.
