Rod Stewart writes new song 'I Cant Imagine' about wife Penny and fans love it

Rod Stewart has given fans a teaser of his new song 'I Can't Imagine' and says it's dedicated to his wife Penny.

The Celtic -daft rocker, who is married to model turned community police woman Penny Lancaster, has been drumming up excitement about his hugely-anticipated new album Tears of Hercules, which he says will be his 'best' yet.

On his Instagram page Rod dedicated the track 'I Can't Imagine' to his loving wife.

Sharing a short clip with some lyrics, he wrote: "I Can't Imagine. Dedicated to Special Constable Penelope Lancaster Stewart (heart emoji). Last chance to pre-order The Tears of Hercules out This Friday. Link in bio!"

In the lyrics, Rod sings: " I can't imagine waking up with anybody else but you... I've sang my songs all over the world and I have met some pretty girls.

"Someday though, this will end I might say farewell to all my friends, 'cause after all is said and done, my youthful days for now are gone, there's only one place, one place where I belong."

Fans absolutely loved the clip and said it was a lovely tribute to Penny.

One wrote: "You waited a long time to meet the very best lady, You definitely have an angel on your shoulder!!! Love all your new songs."

Another added: "Worth the Wait Sir Rod. Beautiful Songs."

One fan said: "Best love song dear Rod and wise words, I love it."

Another added: "Wonderful lyric, Penny really saved you and is a blessing."

Last month, Rod revealed that the new album will be about one of his favourite topics - making love.

His first single in particular - called One More Time - is about wanting 'amazing' sex from an ex-girlfriend after a break-up

Speaking on BBC Radio Two, he said: "The story behind the song is you know when you break up with somebody and the sex was amazing and you just want to do it one more time?

"That's what the song is about. It's happened to all of us I'm sure.

"The songs are more or less life stories. Unfortunately a lot of them have got to do with love and sex on this album.

"Well not unfortunately, that's the way I was feeling and they are just things that have happened to me."

Sir Rod also revealed his favourite song on the new album is about his Scottish dad and his love of football.

He said: "My favourite on the album is a song about my dad. It's called Touchline because he was always on the touchline watching me and my brothers play in the same team.

"He would always be there on the touchline in the pouring rain and shouting abuse and advice.

"Now I find that I do that with my sons and hopefully my sons will do it with their sons. It's all about football, we love our football."

He added: "I’ve never said this before about any previous efforts, but I believe this is by far my best album in many a year."

The Tears of Hercules will be released on November 12.
