Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster shows how she delivered her own baby on Loose Women

Penny Lancaster detailed how she gave birth to her and husband Rod Stewart's son on today's Loose Women.

The former supermodel, 50, shocked her fellow ITV colleagues as she squatted on the floor during the live show and she explained the birth of her child Aiden.

During a discussion about whether or not women should be allowed to be given gas and air, Penny mentioned that she pulled her son out of her during labour.

However, this was not the only thing that stunned the daytime show panelists, reports The Daily Star.

Penny also admitted that her rockstar husband sang to her during the birth of their son.

She said: "I think there were a few songs, yeah."

Penny then explained that as women get to a certain point in their pregnancy, their hips become more supple to make it easier for the baby to come out.

She said her nurse suggested that she tried squatting to encourage her son during the birth, asking the women: "Shall I demonstrate it to you?"

Penny then squatted on the set floor to the music of Liberty X's Sexy as she said her son came out onto the hospital lino floor while her fellow panellists looked at her in shock.

Meanwhile, Rod recently revealed that he sends a driver to go and pick Penny up when she finished her shift as a police officer in London.

He told The Sun: "I don't sleep unless I get a call to know she's safe.

"I send a driver for her every night — her area can be rough."

Rod said he has even taken it upon himself to drive around London to look out for Penny, saying: " I took my Rolls-Royce through London Bridge the other night."

Penny has been working with the City of London as a Special Constable since getting her badge in April this year.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
