Rod Stewart 's wife Penny Lancaster opened up about starting the menopause in lockdown and how it had affected her health in recent months.
The 50-year-old admitted she was "freaked out" at first and thought that it was the end for her sex appeal.
Since then, the former model said she has gone on to "embrace each stage of your life with more maturity", adding she had to give herself a break from worrying over the menopause.
The Loose Women star opened up about her struggles on the ITV show and shared her concerns during a special 'menopause matters' edition of Hello! Magazine.
In September, she broke down in tears as she recalled the conversation she had with her doctor about her symptoms.
The mother-of-two said she had been crying uncontrollably, suffering from anxiety and felt as though she had lost her grip with menopause.
She told viewers: "I had a few tears with her [the doctor], trying to explain what I’ve been going through in the last few months and she said, ‘You’ve got to get to the point where you say to yourself, ‘I see you'."
Penny went on to say she felt she had lost herself during the process, adding: "You feel guilty for being upset.
"You burst into tears and you don't know why you're crying."
Rod's wife said she was given medication by her doctor which helped but didn't address "the real problem".
She has since taken HRT tablets to help balance out her symptoms.
Penny went on to say she no longer suffers from hot sweats, but still has anxiety and an underactive thyroid gland.
The Loose Women star went on to urge those suffering to speak to their loved ones, as she praised 76-year-old husband Rod for his support.
The couple married in 2007 and share two sons together; Aiden, 10, and Alastair, 15.
In 2018, the rockstar gushed over his relationship and sex life with Penny and how he had calmed down from his heyday.
He told The Mail on Sunday: "You know, I love sex with my wife but I love just giving her a hug before we go to bed.
"Every night we have a kiss and a hug and that doesn’t always lead to sex but it’s still lovely."
Ahead of meeting Penny, Rod has been married several times. He was wed to Rachel Hunter and Alana Stewart.
With Rachel, he shares 28-year-old daughter Renee and son Liam, 26, and Kimberly and Sean with his first wife, as well as daughters Ruby and Sarah from past relationships.
