Rod Stewart's wealth grows by £10m in a year - but one Scots star is still richer

Sir Rod Stewart's wealth increased by £10million in the last year – taking his fortune to £190million.

But the veteran singer was still outdone by superstar Scot Calvin Harris.

According to the Sunday Times’ UK Musicians’ Rich List, the Dumfries DJ, record producer and singer’s wealth soared by £25million in the last 12 months.

That means he’s worth £165million, level with the legendary Sir Tom Jones.

Harris’s earnings in a year is the equivalent of a weekly wage of £480,000.

But there is no disputing the biggest gainer of all on the list.

Ed Sheeran's wealth rocketed by £80million – doubling his total fortune to £160million.

Andrew Lloyd Webber was the only other to make so much but his £80million income rise took the composer’s total wealth to a staggering £820million.

The top 40 UK acts have a total wealth of £7.721billion – up £460million in the year.

But spare a thought for Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell.

Their wealth plummeted by £70million last year.

The ex-Beatle and his missus still have a personal wealth of £750million, making them number two on the overall list.

U2 (up £14million), Sir Elton John (up £20million) and the Rolling Stones’ Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (both up £15millipon) are on the list at numbers three, four, five and six respectively.

Robbie Williams’ wealth of £175million makes him joint 13th, while Adele’s £150million makes her equal 22nd with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.

Not surprisingly, Sheeran tops the list of young musicians. His £160million is double that of the next in line – Harry Styles with £58million

A new entry on that list is Stormzy. He is at number 10 with £16million.
