Rod Stewart roasted for 'embarrassing' live performance on Graham Norton Show

Sir Rod Stewart was roasted on Friday night after performing his new single on the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show.

The 76-year-old star joined the likes of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver on the BBC series and was keen to have a sing song.

At the end of the show, Graham introduced Rod and said: “Right, time for music, this band have been topping the charts for over 50 years here performing his single One More Time, it is Sir Rod Stewart."

But as Rod took to the stage wearing a black sequin blazer, viewers took to Twitter and shared their disappointment.

Someone else said: "Totally agree. What the hell was that? And his ‘group’ – the audience for that gig really dubious in the hair and leg requirement #RodStewart #parody."

A fourth added: "Oh dear. Rod Stewart was embarrassing. I switched off #GrahamNortonShow."

And another tweeted: "@rodstewart embarrassing himself as usually when on Graham Norton desperately trying to appear relevant (sic)."

After the performance, Rod joined Graham and the celebs for a chat but couldn't hear the host as he commented on him being "as fit as a flea".

Rod attributed his fitness to football and said he's had the same trainer for 35 years joking: "I'm gonna pay him eventually!"

Speaking about 31st studio album, The Tears of Hercules, Rod said it was a lockdown project because he could "pay more attention to it".

He also said his wife Penny Lancaster was going to kill him when he made a comment about sex and it always being on his mind.

The Graham Norton Show airs Friday nights on BBC One.
