Rod Stewart rages at Simon Jordan as rocker sends radio warning over brutal Scotland verdict

Smarting Rod Stewart has come out fighting in support of the Scotland national team after hearing Steve Clarke's side talked down on live radio.

The legendary crooner was compelled to text close pal Jim White after listening to former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan rip the national team to shreds on talkSPORT.

Jordan claimed England's U21s are a better outfit than and he urged his co-host to temper his expectations ahead of the summer's rearranged EURO 2020 showpiece.

Clarke names his squad today for an upcoming trio of World Cup qualifiers before all eyes turn to a first major tournament appearance in 21 years.

But Celtic diehard Sir Rod had heard enough and was quick to have his say as he backed his country.

White, speaking on his breakfast show, revealed: "Rod Stewart's got in touch with us this morning, 'give Jordan a punch in the earhole, Jim

"Rod, consider that done in the next break."

It came after Jordan playfully suggested he couldn't see why Southampton striker Che Adams had decided to say yes to Scotland.

He said: "What are you thinking? Why would I want to be part of that debacle.

"Where am I guaranteed to play because the quality is so low and I'll get in every time I picked. "
