SIR Rod Stewart fans who were heading to Roche Estate in the Hunter Valley on October 24 to see the British music great will be waiting until March 26, 2022.

Promoter Live Nation announced on Thursday that Stewart's The Hits Tour of Australia, scheduled for this spring, will be postponed due to COVID-19 limitations on mass gatherings, border closures and international travel restrictions.

"Hi guys, Rod Stewart here, I'm so sorry to say my tour this year has been postponed," Stewart said in a statement.

"But l'll be there in 2022, March and April, and it's going to be great. Hold on to your tickets."

The Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Sailing and Maggie May hit-maker will be 77 by the time he returns to Roche Estate in 2022.

Tickets for the performance will be valid for the rescheduled date without the need for exchange.

However, ticket-holders unable to attend the new date can obtain a full refund from the point of purchase. Refunds applications must be submitted prior to 5pm on September 1.

Stewart's cancellation follows news earlier this week that fellow Pokolbin winery, Hope Estate, had postponed a host of events scheduled for the second half of the year to 2021.

Jazz in the Vineyards has been rescheduled to April 10, the Big 80s Party has been moved to May 8, the Hunter Valley Cheese and Chocolate Festival has been shifted to July 3-4, and the Hunter Valley Beer and BBQ Festival is now set down for August 14-15, 2021.
