Rod Stewart shared a heart-warming tribute to Motown legend Lamont Dozier who tragically died aged 81.
Taking to social media after the news broke, Rod penned a heartfelt tribute to his former song-writer. On Instagram, he said: "There will never be another Lamont Dozier. His songs for Motown changed our world forever, they changed our lives for the better.
"Music would not be what it is without the magic of Lamont Dozier. From Heatwave to Standing In The Shadows of Love and This Old Heart Of Mine which I had a Top 10 hit with his songs are all wonders of the world."
The musical legend was part of the song-writing trio, Holland, Dozier, Holland, who shared several number one records and won Grammy Awards. As well as Rod, Dozier wrote songs for The Supremes, The Four Tops and The Isley Brothers, as well as Marvin Gaye and Martha and the Vandellas.
Hits include Baby Love, Nowhere to Run, How Sweet It Is (to Be Love By You) and You Can't Hurry Love. He co-wrote and produced 14 US Billboard number 1 hits and 4 number ones in the UK.
The trio were hugely influential when shaping the Motown sound in the 1960s, as well as the sound for Motown Records between 1962 and 1967.
Following the news of his death, tributes poured in from the musical world. Nile Rodgers led tributes, writing: "Music composing genius. He's had a positive effect on so many lives. We've lost a giant." Simply Red's Mike Hucknall’s worked with Dozier and described him as "one of the greatest songwriters of all time".
This comes just days after Sir Rod paid a touching tribute to Grease star Olivia Newton John who tragically died aged 73. Taking to social media to honour his late pal, Rod wrote: "My great friend Olivia Newton John has passed away.
"She was the perfect Lady , gorgeous , with great poise and with a certain Aussie sophistication. Her spandex trousers in Grease were my inspiration for my ‘Da ya think I’m Sexy‘ era. RIP Olivia."
